Announcing OpenEMR Version 8

The OpenEMR community is proud to announce the release of version 8! The ONC certified version contains dozens of new features, improvements and fixes to support interoperability, streamline workflows, and improve patient care.

For assistance with upgrades and installation, the OpenEMR Foundation maintains a list of professional support vendors, or join peers sharing advice on the OpenEMR Forum. Upgrade by March 1, 2026 to maintain your system’s active certification.

A huge thank you goes to the OpenEMR community volunteers who dedicated more than 2,000 hours to development, documentation, and testing to build version 8.0.0 and achieve ONC Certification. The collaborative effort is what keeps OpenEMR innovative, secure, and the best alternative to expensive proprietary systems.
